Clearly inspired by contemporaneous lacquer designs,Jizhou bowls of this design appear to be rare. A Jizhou bowl of related ‘guri’ pattern design in the Metropolitan Museum of Art,New York,is illustrated by Suzanne G. Valenstein,A Handbook of Chinese Ceramics,New York,1989,pl. 113. Another related Jizhou bowl of more rounded form was sold at Sotheby’s New York,23 March 2004,lot 617.
