CONCH PEARL
A conch pearl is non-nacreous, which means they are not made of nacre but calcareous concretion produced by the Queen Conch mollusk (Strombus gigas) which lives primarily in the Caribbean. They often exhibit a flame-like structure unlike the iridescent lustre from traditional pearls and are highly valued for their rarity, beautiful colour and porcelain-like luster. Less than 10% of the pearls out of 15,000 shells are gem-quality; thus a bigger size or a matching pair in good size and excellent colour is hard to come by.
