Every Stroke is with the Most Sincere Heart
A Testament of the Friendship between Nara Yoshitomo and Shun Kurokochi

“The Kurokochi Collection: Nara Note” was Nara's gift to collector Shun Kurokochi, drawn on his self-published book “Nara Note”. Mr. Shun Kurokochi once was an ordinary bank clerk, who started to collect Nara's work since 1988, using his savings. He got acquainted with the artist after his first time purchasing Nara's painting. In 2001, Nara had resigned from his visiting professorship at the University of California, Los Angeles, returned to Japan to settle and published the book “Nara Note”. He used a marker to draw a girl with naughty look and a pair of bunny ears on a blank page of the book, just like the one on the cover. With concise and lively lines, vividly presents her innocent, showing different aspects of the character. Such earnest look on the little girl's face seems to be telling the sympathetic feeling between Nara and Mr. Kurokochi. The artist gave meaning to the art piece by gifting it to his friend as a memento.
