Dancing Lightly Like In A Dreamily Illusion
Huang Ji's Voice of the Times

Huang Ji, born in 1953, graduated from the National University of the Arts in 1974. His works not only won first place in the Oil Painting Category in the Seventh National Art Exhibition, but were invited to participate in the exhibition held by the National Museum of History, some Japanese museums such as the Kansai Art Association, and Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts since 1980. From 1987 until now, he has been holding many exhibitions. His works are created in a unique form of a personal diary, with the surrealism content representing the turn of time and space.

The Girl presented in this spring auction was completed in 1992, among the early creations of the relatively rare artist. A blonde girl is in the middle of the picture. Her hair connects her palette-like collar on the neck, revealing the identity of the author and her love for painting. The girl›s cheeks were reddish and her eyes are lowered, demonstrating her thoughtful and attractive quality. She stands tiptoe with a pair of eye-attracting red dance shoes and one of her hand is slightly raised as if she is dancing. However, strangely, her another hand was broken, holding two canvases of warm tone and cold tone. Hesitating between indifference and enthusiasm, she illustrates the long and tough journey of Huang Ji's painting career when he has been solving problems by drawing, reflecting on herself, renewing his knowledge and persist all through the way.
