The Eternal in A Moment, The Endless in the Growth
Liang Jen-Hung's Perpetual Dog

Exploration between nature, machinery and humanity and incorporating modern technology into creation are Liang Jen-Hung's unique artistic expressions. Under the smooth surface and lines of his sculptures, it is his unique interpretation of life. In 2001, Liang successively won the iconic awards in Taiwan art circles, the Taipei Art Award and the Kaohsiung Art Award. After obtaining a master's degree from the Institute of Plastic Arts, Tainan National University of the Arts in 2002, he became a full-time artist. His creations are mainly based on mechanical power devices. Through continuous deep research, he gradually develops into stainless steel as the material, creating wind-driven series and manual series, so that the interaction between viewers and the artwork could be realized and the artworks are no longer merely appreciable from a distance. In the 2021 spring auction, his work Transrevolution 15AK1029.1017 broke his auction record in China Guardian Hong Kong for more than 600,000 HKD, showing the high recognition of the market. This time we bring another edition of his work that was once collected by the Kaohsiung Museum of Art, presenting a vivid and moving artistic power between the dynamic and the static.

Be Static Like the Rocks, Be Dynamic Like the Water

Transrevolution 9AL1028-16-17 uses smooth stainless steel to express the abstract and flowing lines. As long as a person touches one corner gently, the other side will rotate gracefully as well because of the traction. With the stronger force, their movement would be more fascinating. While preserving the mechanical elements, the work incorporates anthropomorphic references and the artist's life experience, making the work particularly cordial and moving. The protagonist in this work looks like a low dog, leaning forward slightly and playfully, ready to get up and run towards the viewer at any time. The limbs and torso are steadily fixed at the bottom, showing the fluid beauty and contrast between movement and stillness, which is also the most iconic character of his sculptures.

The Universe Keeps Changing, the Life Keeps Growing

Transrevolution 9AL1028-16-17 interacts with the viewers and the surrounding environment in the rotation, inadvertently revealing Liang's introverted philosophy of life-even if the same person rotates the work in the same place, it will produce a different rhythm and direction. No matter how humans control it, contingency in the world is inevitable. The viewer may wish to calm down and enjoy the process of each rotation. The surprises in the sublime could be another wonderful event in life.
