Born in Korea in 1974, Song Hyeong-Noh graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts in 2000 and received his MFA from Hongik University in 2003. Often featuring animals, his paintings depict their tender sweetness and amiable characteristics in a heartwarming style that evoke sympathy from viewers. He has made a name since his debut at ART Singapore in 2008 and has exhibited in Seoul, Hong Kong, London, and Milan, among others. His works are in the collections like the Daelim Museum of Art in Seoul and the Samsung Group. Completed in 2012, Dream (Goose & Rabbit) is the largest piece (97 × 194 cm) in the auction. The work combines the artist's representative stylistic elements and invites the viewer to enter the realm of innocent dreams.

Flying in the Wind with a Heart Full of Dreams

The painting lays out a large expanse of sky painted with blue acrylic overlaid with lustrous oil paint, which adds a glossy finish to the painting. A few patches of clouds float in the air, creating a sense of openness. On the right half of the painting, the main characters, a toy bunny and a giant white goose, stand on top of a city made of concrete and steel while looking up to the clear blue sky in an expression of their search for dreams. The bunny holds a full dandelion, which "represents a dream that could grow anywhere the wind blows." By its side, the white goose spreads its wings as if it is ready to fly or, with an affectionate gaze, watches over the bunny in front of it. A pink love flag suspends from a colourful hot air balloon in the distant blue sky. Like a lighthouse, it points a direction for the people in the city. Song Hyeong-Noh's warm and heartfelt works inspire one to pursue their dreams with courage and hope for a brighter future.
