12.5 cm.(4 7/8 in.)high
No other Cizhou-type jar of this form appears to have been published. The unusual shape of this jar, hoewever, relates closely to contemporaneous Junyao jars produced in the Northern Song kilns. The decorative technique of cutting through the white slip to the body and covering the decoration in a glaze to highlight the raised decoration is found on a number of published examaples of Cizhou-type vases including a vase in the Idemitsu Museum illustrated in Song Ceramics,Tokyo,1979,no. 98;and a meiping in the British Museum illustrated by M. Tregear in Song Ceramics,New York,1982,p. 92,pl. 91.
