It is very rare to find a Tang dynasty terracotta figure of Buddha in the style of stone sculpture. The present figure uses terracotta to emulate the style of stone sculpture found in the Buddhist art along the Silk Road.
The dating of this lot is consistent with the result of a thermoluminescence test，Oxford Authentication Ltd.，sample no. C207a61.
