It is unusual and rare to find a turquoise-glazed incense burner of this form impressed with a Yongzheng six-character kaishu mark, together with the impression of an artemisia leaf, both in relief and in this arrangement. Artemesia leaf symbols are more often found on Kangxi porcelain vessels, which suggest that the present lot can be attributed more accurately to the early years of the Yongzheng reign.
Compare almost identical example of a turquoise-glazed incense burner also with impressed Yongzheng six-character kaishu mark and an artemesia leaf in relief (accession no.AN1172839001001), bequeathed by Eugenia Hadjilia Vagliano to the British Museum, London, in 2012.
