Although the wooden frame of the table is attributed to the work of Gabriel Viardot, the rich complexity and elegance of the enamel decoration of the porcelain plaque is closely related to Imperial style that favoured during the peak of the Qianlong period. Compare an example of a famille rose green-ground porcelain plaque decorated with floral and the Eight Buddhist Emblems motif dated to the Qianlong period in the Museé Guimet, Paris （accession no.Ancien fonds, MG8050）. It is not unusual to find imperial standard porcelain plaques framed within later European furniture for aesthetic and admiration purposes. See a huali stool inset with a famille rose white-ground circular plaque dated to the Qianlong period, sold at Christie’s London, 7 November 2017, lot 123.
