The Collection of Raymond and Frances Bushell，acquired in the early 1990s

Lustrous and delicate white jade with colour suffusions. The jade figure is shown standing and holding the sleeves together. He has a thin face on which eyebrows，eyes，ears and nose are represented by engraved lines. The hairs are fastened at the back of head. The figure also wears a small cap and a long robe with wide sleeves and right collar，and has a slender waist. The draperies are carved neatly and skillfully in a fluent and swift manner without any break or congestion in the modeling. The facial expression of the figures is charming and elegant with a touch of lyricism，revealing the look of court nobles of the time. Most jade figures of the Han dynasty are carved in the form of plaques shape，and those carved in the round are very rare and unusual.
