Acquired in Hong Kong in the 1980s

The bulbous pear-shaped body raised on a circular foot,cast with five registers of interlocking scroll stippled with raised bosses and separated by plain verticalbands,the two taotie handles flanking the shoulder and cover attached with achain link handle.
A similar hu and cover from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Morse,New York,was sold at Sotheby’s New York,22nd September 2004,lot 116.
The dating of this lot is consistent with technical examination report no.
0717-OA-45N-10 carried out by CIRAM.
