The figure is shown seated in rajalilasana on the back of a recumbent qilin,its head turned towards the serene face of the Bodhisattva.
Compare to a larger but stylistically similar wood figure of Manjusri dated to the 14th-15th century sold at Christie’s New York,24 March 2004,lot 116.
