The figure is shown seated in rajalilasana on the back of a recumbent qilin，its head turned towards the serene face of the Bodhisattva.
Compare to a larger but stylistically similar wood figure of Manjusri dated to the 14th-15th century sold at Christie’s New York，24 March 2004，lot 116.
