The large jar with a broad tapering shoulder,freely painted on white slip with a large panel depicting an ascending dragon among cloud scroll,the reverse with a pair of phoenix among blossoming peony scroll.
Compare with a jar of this type Cleveland Museum of Art,included in the exhibition Freedom of Clay and Brush through Seven Centuries in Northern China,Tz'uchou Type Wares,Indianapolis Museum of Art,1980,cat. no. 93 and a jar sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong,24/25th November 2010,lot 1010.
