Important private collection, AsiaWhen viewing artworks by Sanyu, people make the connection to Ba Da Shan Ren. Those lonely birds and monsters, and surprisingly smooth lines, consists of visual contracts. His artworks appear to be arrogant, isolated with emotions. Ba Da Shan Ren lived in an isolated style because of the declining of Ming Dynasty. Sanyu lived abroad for rest of his life; however, his works have shown the oriental spirit from his blood, as well as nostalgic sentiment. He preferred simple colors, used lines to express his feelings, and those expanding and swirling lines vividly conveyed his sincerity in creation. Thanks to his solid calligraphy knowledge and skill, he always used writing brush to draw nude figure in once. Documents have shown then he had learned traditional Chinese painting in his early stage, which provided a strong foundation to his art creations.
