Private collection， AsiaYan Ping has had the honor of being featured in several important exhibitions in China， starting as far back as the 1990s， when her award-winning works began to put her on the map， eventually making her one of the most influential female artists throughout all of modern-day China. Summer Memories is abstract in nature， the scene centered upon a woman who has come out of her bath and is， at this particular moment， enjoying the cool air， all seamlessly integrated into a brightly colored background. The tumultuous colors of the picture vibrate like surging waves of energy， moving opposite the natural passage of time. Eye-catching decorative elements， combined with a profound composition， lead to a vision startlingly reminiscent of the Red Room， Henri Matisse’s masterpiece. There is a beautiful harmony between the blossoming flowers on the table and the shape of the woman’s outstretched limbs. Her smile is drawn in a single stroke， forming a soft， yet sweet curve. The flexible and fluid depiction creates a languid air and setting that seem to be the only right and possible fit for this female figure.
Yan Ping has a talent for exploring everyday life’s most tender moments， and her pictorial language combines personal emotion and desires with outward social realities.
