Huanghuali round corner cabinet(Middle Qing Period)

145cm×84cm×45cm (57×43×17 7/8 in)

Fitted with a central removable stile, this cabinet is distinguishable by its legs with melon-shaped moulding, fluted cape and reeded door frames for emphasized linearity. The lack of decoration serves to play up the attractive grain of the huanghuali wood. On the door frames are rectangular plates with pulls decorated with an openwork cloud. On the inside, which is compartmented by a shelf and a set of two drawers into three tiers for storing small scholar’s objects, meticulous craftsmanship is noticeable in the bevelled doors. Between the legs are plain n-shaped aprons.
