Titanium is widely used in technological applications such as space metal or even lightweight alloys for aerospace. In recent years, titanium has gradually emerged into the jewelry industry, bringing in new definition of jewellery design.
Pure titanium mines are almost non-existent on earth and all pure titanium were produced by refining process which is labor intensive and expensive. It was not vastly adopted in the jewellery industry due to the unattractive nature of the materials. However, with the advancement of technology, the cost of refining has been greatly reduced. The density of titanium is low and the weight of pure titanium is only 40% of silver and 25% of gold, its hardness is comparable to steel.
