The original bronze jue prototype is a container with tripod feet and two post at the rim for heating wine; open flame is applied under the vessel and is lifted away by holding onto the two posts. It comes with a stand with a raised centre in the style of rockworks to anchor the feet of the vessel._x000D_
Compare a similar stand with matching jue (accession no.C.95A&C-1913) in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, illustrated by Rose Kerr, Chinese Ceramics, Porcelain of the Qing Dynasty, 1644-1911, p.68, no.44.
