Well-potted with straight flaring sides above a circular foot, the exterior painted with a continuous pond scene with leafy branches issuing floral blossoms, falling gently into the water causing rippling effects, the base with a six-character kaishu apocryphal mark in underglaze blue._x000D_
An identical example is in the Shanghai Museum, illustrated in Shanghai Bowuguan Cang Kangxi Ci Tulu, p.143, no.97. See two examples formerly in the Aykroyd and H.M. Knight collections, respectively sold at Sotheby’s London, 19 June 1984, lot 320 and 6 July 1976, lot 185. Compare another example sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, 13 November 1990, lot 286. A flask with similar decoration but in doucai enamels is illustrated in Percival Foundation Catalogue: Section 5, no.A733.
