A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF SHAKYAMUNI

62 cm. (24 3/8 in.) high


Cast seated in dhyanasana on a lotus blossom pedestal suspending above a rectangular platform surrounded by balustrade, his left resting in dhyana mudra and the right reaching down in bhumisparsha mudra, his torso draped in loose robes cascading onto the base in undulating folds, intricately incised with detailed composite flowers at the hems, the serene facial expression deep in meditation with a hollowed urna above downcast eyes and a bow-shaped mouth, flanked by a pair of pendulous earlobes, the tightly curled hair depicted through an array of small bossed whorls piling high upon a domed ushnisha._x000D_
