A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF AVALOKITESVARA

Well-cast standing in tribhangha atop a double lotus pedestal above a two-tiered platform and against a flaming mandorla, holding a water vessel in the left hand and a willow branch in the right up to the shoulder, her serene facial expression with downcast eyes framed by hair tied in high chignon behind a diadem with a central figure of Amitabha Buddha on a cloud-form plaque surmounted by an emblem of the sun-and-crescent-moon, wearing a long dhoti gathered around the waist and falling in graceful pleated folds over the legs, leaving the chest bare with bejewelled necklaces and flowing sashes, the arms adorned with armlets and bracelets.
