A Pair of Archaic Celadon and Russet Jade 'Pig' Carvings(Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220))

Each:11 cm. (4.3 in.) long


Each carved as a recumbent pig with flat snout above a pierced narrow tab, with deep, slanting knifework resulting in pronounced grooves indicating the ears, front and rear legs and the pierced tail, the stone of a greenish tone with overall light beige hue showcasing splash - like stains.

Provenance: An American private collection, acquired in the 1980s
