A Pair of Archaic Jade 'Tiger' Carvings(Western Zhou Dynasty (1046 - 771 BC))

The largest: 2.3 cm. (0.9 in.) wide


Each intricately worked in the form of a crouching tiger, its bulging eyes framed by defined facial features, its four muscular feet carved in relief and incised tail curved upwards, the stones overall in an even brown tone with mottled inclusions.

Provenance: An American private collection, acquired in the 1980s
