5.41 CARAT NATURAL UNHEATED BURMESE MOGOK RUBY AND DIAMOND RING


Centring on an oval ruby weighing 5.41 carats, to a stylised mount embellished with variously-shaped diamonds totalling approximately 2.70 carats, mounted in 18 karat white and yellow gold. Ring size: 5 3/4

Gübelin report numbered 18027111, dated 1 March 2018, stating the ruby is 5.41 carats, natural, no indications of heating; along with an information sheet stating that 'Burma has long been recognised as the locality associated with the most desirable rubies in the world. Within Burma (Myanmar), the most famed region is Mogok Valley, or Mogok Stone Tract, in the Pyin Oo Lwin district, North East of Mandalay: a small area of a few dozen square miles, of which only a portion is gem-bearing...Mogok-type rubies typically possess a red body colour and red UV- fluorescence. They may contain tiny amounts of light-scattering silk and a swirl-like growth pattern. It is this combination of features which gives these rubies their characteristic appearance.';
GRS report numbered GRS2017-082954, dated 22 August 2017, stating that the ruby is 5.41 carats, natural, Red colour, Burmese (Mogok, Myanmar) origin, no indication of thermal treatment.
