Most of the significant fire opals are found in Mexico, usually showing distinctive fiery orange-red colour. It is relatively rare and valuable for jelly-like fire opals exhibiting play-of-color.
White opals are majorly sourced from the Southern Australia regions. They are devided into two types, milky and crystal, according to their transparency. The crystal opal with a higher translucency, brighter tones and displaying more spectral colours are more valuable. Play-of-colour is an essential element to define merit opals. Only those displays a higher range of colours would be distinguished as high value white opals.
