An archaic jade bird(Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 220))

5.8 cm.( 2 1/4 in ) wide


Naturalistically worked in the form of a bird perched with legs tucked under its body and the feathery wings at both sides, the head defined by a pair of pronounced circular eyes and protruding beak, the stone of an even yellowish-green colour with a black streak running across the right torso and shoulder.
Provenance:
An American private collection, acquired in the 1980s
