Spiritual Sketch of Jia Difei

Jia Difei graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1983, and his work General Yang Jingyu that had been collected by the National Art Museum of China won him silver award in the National Art Exhibition. He joined Chinese Biennale of Oil Painting and the Contemporary Oil Painting Exhibition of Northeast China in 1993 and won the exceptional Academy Award. Then he taught in the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and his works have been highly appreciated by the domestic and overseas collectors. When he was still in the college, Jia was extremely interested in the wire that twines together. His favor on high-density lines indicates his sensitivity of the form. He transformed what he experienced in the real life, the objective things, into a visual composition with high-tensity. The solid painting skills came with saturated colors creating an atmosphere that full of creativity and beauty. Among the contemporary artists, these characters made him a representative heir of the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in the academic style. This time, we presents an extremely rare work of his early time in 1992, Autumn Landscape.

With green and gold mixing in the painting, Autumn Landscape depicts trees on the riversides shining in the early autumn. The season calls for an overlapping and changing color span. In the open overview of the artist, a trail in the shadow comes into our sight, reflecting the shining sunset scene. He uses straight strokes to capture the trunks and grass and overlapping paints to shape the luxuriant leaves with a diverse texture, creating a depth in visual sense. Compositionally, he applies the point-perspective, guiding our sight into the trail in shadow. Our journey in such a sunset, might be the celebration arranged by the artist.
