The Gift of Light and Color
Niesche's Realm of Creation

Born in Australia in 1972, abstract artist Jonny Niesche has gained attention for the unique aesthetic, visual immersion, and three-dimensional forms of his works, which are highly sought after on social media. He has exhibited with many emerging galleries in London, New York, Moscow, Los Angeles, Rotterdam, etc. His works are often sold out to collectors in Europe, North America, China, Singapore and so on, by the time they are exhibited. His works are also in the collections of the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, and the National Gallery of Victoria. His highly recognizable style of creation is based on the use of Barré fabric, which is coloured, tie-dyed, and mounted on fiberboard, supplemented by gold and silver borders, making the works appear to be suspended on a flat surface, exuding a silent power. The artist's Shedding Light from the Shoulders of Giants is presented in this spring auction. The work fully demonstrates the artist's imagination and artistic ambition in light, media, and craftsmanship, with a sense of modern technology and the ultimate pursuit of beauty in form.

The centre of the painting starts with white, which becomes a focus of light and gradually spreads outward, slowly melting into the outer circle of pink, purple, and then black. The colours were made by hand-tied and dyed, and the transition of the edges showed a smooth and progressive natural effect. The matte and thin nature of the fabric makes the colour layers even richer. One can feel the subtle emotional changes in the progression and stacking of colours.

Robert Rauschenberg, pioneer of contemporary American art, believed that each colour is alive in a different way. In Nissche's works, colours flow and meet, growing into new faces, where light, rhythm and white spaces merge to create a novel viewing experience, where the center is lighted up like a stirring first encounter.
