26×26×21.3 cm (10 1/4×10 1/4×8 3/8 in)
The square box has a hinged top that opens to reveal a fat compartment, above two full-width drawers secured within a frame of slender vertical members;all upon squared legs with tiny hoof feet. The profile of the drawers is matched by richly figured floating panels at the side, set with brass trim at all the corners and pairs of vase-shaped pulls on the drawers.
The mounts are particularly ingenious hinged double-clasps allow the upper flat compartment to open while the drawers below remain securely locked,or vice-versa. The shape of the low hoof feet assists in dating the box securely to the Kangxi period.
