This relief depicts Siddhartha sharing his insights to help his disciples end rebirth and suffering after he attained full enlightenment. He is shown wearing a long robe,sitting in a cross-legged pose with the ankles of each leg tucked behind,His left hand is holding onto his robe,while he raises his right hand up with palm facing outwards as he preaches Dharma. There are a total of twelve disciples,which represents the "Twelve Nidanas",with six disciples sitting on each side of Siddhartha. They all have their hands joined together in prayer. Two similar examples are illustrated in A Catalogue of the Gandhara Sculpture in the British Museum,British Museum Press,London,1996,pl. 196 & 206.
