A BRONZE RITUAL FOOD VESSEL AND COVER,GUI(Western Zhou Dynasty(1100-771 BC))

Provenance:
Acquired in Hong Kong in the 1980s

Raised on four taotie mask feet,the broad body and domed cover cast withbroad horizontal ribs interrupted on either side by ‘D’-shaped mythical beasthandles.
This gui vessel is the pair to the preceding lot in the catalogue but the presentgui was cleaned by Plowden Smith,London,whereas the preceding lot retainsits original patina.
The dating of this lot is consistent with technical examination report no.
0717-OA-45N-5 carried out by CIRAM.
