The incense burner consists of a fitted lid， basin， stem and base. A raised bow string sets off cloud scrolls in the upper part of the spherical basin while another one is also found on the stem. The openwork base terminating in a circular foot features three intertwining dragons.

Most prominent of all is the openwork lid that resembles Boshan， or probably the mythical island of Penglai for immortals， which is imaginatively visualized through the mythical beasts and immortals that dot the lush and misty slopes. Without doubt， with the scent and smoke rising from the burner， its user must have been easily transported to the alluring immortal realm.
