PROVENANCE
Private collection, AsiaSplashing Inspirations from Brushes
Chuang Che can handle two different types of materials skillfully, the oil painting and the acrylic color. Therefore, the linear structure of calligraphy can often be found in his abstract landscape paintings. He moves the paint brush smoothly in a space decorated by scattered black and white lines and dominated by the profound colorful effects. Through all the natural techniques of dripping, splashing, overlapping and accumulation, Chuang Che pictures the rhythms that are sometimes poetic and mild, sometimes grant and magnificent, from chaotic to rising.
In 2015, Taipei Fine Arts Museum especially held “Effusive Vitality: Chuang Che Retrospective Exhibition” for Chuang Che who was over eight years old. More than 100 pieces of featured works created in over 50 years were displayed, which offered a precious opportunity for conducting a comprehensive research in his artistic creation processes and ideas. The work Inspiration completed in 2010 and selected by the exhibition has a significant meaning beyond description. In this work, Chuang Che basically divides the picture into two sections by a vague boundary line, through which the thick dark brown colour in the upper section transits to the below light-yellow. The upper side is formed by two symmetrical objects that seems like an anatomical picture of a brain from a transverse perspective. Inside the brains, some lines in various lengths and widths are flowing or filing up regularly in a complicated way, which seems like the message transferring channel, the neuron fibres. The work offers a rational perspective for us to see the intuitive feature of human beings, which is the changeable inspiration and idea. It also enables us to whiteness a truth that “Good traditions take place in good times, and good works will always be good traditions.”
