PROVENANCE
Private collection, AsiaGraduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in Oil Painting, Yan Yaya has hosted several solo exhibitions in National Arts Museum, Beijing, and has taught in Northwestern Nationals College and Xu Beihong Arts College, China Renmin University. She is an outstanding artist among her age in realism paintings. Because of her Manchus identity, she developed a sentiment to Tajik people on Pamir plateau. She has made over 16 visits to Pamir plateau to paint their exotic and wide landscapes, as well as the sunshine and the young girls, to express the humanistic touch of people who live in this area.
Wish is a typical Tajik girl-themed painting. The eyes of the little girl are so pure and clear with a nostalgic feeling. She looks cold with her ropey clothes, while her hair looks messy by the wind—all demonstrated the lack of source on the plateau. She seats on the grass which indicates the coming spring, while the back is a dry and endless land. The winter is over and spring is coming soon. Largely painted green color brings hopeful feeling to the audience, which is also a metaphor to the beginning of the little girl bright future.
