Li Hongbo,who has been engaged in book editing and design,has a special attachment and emotion to paper.This nurtured his classic creation of “Paper Sculptures”.His works have been exhibited in Ludwig Museum of Art,Australian White Rabbit Art Museum and Parkview Green Art Gallery in Beijing.He has also held solo exhibitions at Schoeni Art Gallery Hong Kong in 2012 and Klein Sun Gallery New York in 2013.The materials Li Hongbo uses for his creation are very special.He often utilizes hexagonal honeycomb paper which is commonly found in Chinese folk artifacts such as children’s toys and holiday ornaments.“Human bodies cannot be stretched,and the understanding of mankind cannot be extended either.However,I would like to change people’s views on this.” Li Hongbo has created many human-figure artworks with paper,such as The Spirit of the Girl created in 2011.In this work,he skillfully used the flexible and meandering paper to demonstrate exquisite curves of the girl.The freehand style posture,through layers of paper,created a bodily sense of the figure,quite interesting and unforgettable.
