Huanghuali box(Late Ming/Early Qing Period)

Of rectangular form, the rectangular top hinged at the back without any decoration, the box flanked on the shorter sides with a pair of rectangular bale handles suspended from square roundels, the corners reinforced with metal mounts, the rectangular lockplate mounted flush against the surface with rectangular hasp in front, the densely grained wood of a warm reddish-brown colour.
Small boxes of this type can be fixed on a shoulder strap and are suitable for carrying out. The tubular shape copper decoration was a popular type before Ming dynasty.
