The narrow， rectangular T-shaped box comprised of thin panels of wood， the corners reinforced with baitong mounts， a circular lock plate and cloud-shaped hasp to the front， rectangular hinges at the back joining the cover to the box， the interior with two small compartments at either end and a removable shallow tray， the wood of a rich amber color.
Sedan chair document boxes were used by officials of Ming and Qing dynasties while traveling on sedan chairs.
