Exquisitely made of huanghuali and zitan, the straight sides divided into six facets, each inlaid with a jade panel incised with a four-line poetic inscription, five of them written by Emperor Qianlong and one written by Ouyang Xiu, enclosed by a narrow jade-inlaid border, the cover inlaid with mother-of-pearl, depicting a variety of auspicious objects, including archaic vase, ding, ruyi, etc. followed by a seven-character inscription and two seals reading bu yue (walking in the moonlight), pin hua (appreciating the flowers), all supported on six small bracket feet, the underside centered with a mother-of-pearl hexagonal panel pierced with scrolling flowers with a square seal reading Qianlong Yuyong (literal: used by Emperor Qianlong).
