Huanghuali round-corner cabinet with base(Middle Qing Period)

The rounded projecting four frame members set above the rectangular top panel, joined by four posts at each corner forming the tapered silhouette, the pair of double-panel attractively grained doors with wooden dowels fitting into sockets in the upper frame and lower front rail. Above a beaded apron with elongated cloud-shaped spandrels, rectangular narrow brass plates shaped to fit the door frame members with lock receptacles and vase-shaped pulls. The interior divided into two compartments by a pair of drawers resting on the dovetailed transverse braces of the side panels, each with flower-shaped lockplates and cloud-shaped pulls, the stand with a lipped-edged top and two drawers supported by four slightly splayed legs double tenoned to the top, further secured by humpback stretchers on each side. The original clay and lacquer coating remain almost completely intact on the back.
