Inside-painted snuff bottles signed with Wang Xisan’s original name, Wang Ruicheng, are extremely rare; there are no more than 5 known examples recorded. The present lot was presented to Wang Xisan during the International Chinese Snuff Bottle Society (ICSBS) California Convention in 1988, where the artist personally inspected this snuff bottle and added a dedicatory inscription, which translates as, “this snuff bottle was made 30 years ago, I see this snuff bottle again and added this inscription, autumn of wuchen year (corresponding to 1988), signed Wang Xisan.
