The present lot is inscribed and painted in the ‘Half Farmer Studio’ which is only attributed to inside-painted snuff bottles produced between 1968 and 1969. According to the personal testimony of the artist, Wang Xisan has been designated to return to his hometown of Yang Zhuang, Hebei province. Although he was already well-practiced in the art of inside-painting, he is still required to assist with the farming activities during this period, hence the formation of the name ‘Half Farmer Studio’. Inside-painted snuff bottles produced within this period with the aforementioned studio name is therefore considered extremely rare.
